Provincial Overview & Historical Lineage
The Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London administers Craft Freemasonry and Royal Arch Chapters across Greater London within a ten-mile radius of Freemasons' Hall in Great Queen Street. Established in 2003 under the United Grand Lodge of England, it is the largest Masonic jurisdiction in the United Kingdom.
Prior to 2003, London Lodges reported directly to the Grand Secretary at Freemasons' Hall without an intermediate Provincial structure. Today, Metropolitan Grand Lodge coordinates over 1,250 Lodges meeting at Great Queen Street, Southgate, Surbiton, Croydon, Harrow, and Uxbridge.
